Commissioner Brent Springer Appointed to National Association of Counties Committees

Pender County Commissioner Brent Springer has been appointed to serve on three National Association of Counties committees for the 2026-27 term, giving Pender County a stronger voice in national discussions on issues affecting local governments and their residents.

Springer will serve as a member of the Midsize County Caucus, the Veterans and Military Services Advisory Council, and the Transportation Policy Steering Committee’s Transit/Rail Subcommittee. The appointments were made by NACo President George Dunlap in recognition of Springer’s commitment, participation and leadership within the organization.

“Our greatest strength lies in the engagement of our members, and your active participation and leadership are vital to ensuring that we remain the united voice of America’s counties,” Dunlap stated in the appointment letter.

Through these appointments, Springer will take part in national discussions involving midsize counties, transportation policy, veterans, active-duty military members and their families. His service will also provide an opportunity to bring Pender County’s perspective to conversations on policies and priorities affecting counties across the country.

Springer will also support Dunlap’s presidential initiative, “Building Better Futures,” which focuses on strengthening systems that support young people and helping counties use data and proven strategies to improve outcomes.

These appointments build on Springer’s previous committee experience at the state level. He has served on the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, participating in policy discussions on issues affecting counties and their residents.

Now serving his second term on the Pender County Board of Commissioners, Springer also serves as vice chairman of the board.
